There are many great reasons to use Google Apps that will help our students and teachers be more organized and ready to learn. Here are a few examples.
You forgot your flash drive.
How many of your students have lost their flash drives, only to lose all of their work? How many left it at school and therefore didn't have the assignment to work on at home? What if you saved it on the server and forgot to save it on your flash drive to take home?
With Google Apps, your files are available to you anywhere that you have Internet access. If you forget your flash drive, you can still access any of your documents on any computer!
Automatic Backups
What if you saved your really important paper to your computer and you didn't back up to the server yet and your computer crashes? No matter what happens to your computer, your work is saved on the Google Apps site and you can access it on any computer!

Google Apps allows you to organize your files in folders, just like on your computer, but it also lets you search them and tag them to find and sort them more easily. What if you took notes about the Holocaust in History class and you wanted to use those notes for an English paper? You can search all of your files with one word and it will find all of your files that mention Holocaust!
Easy Collaboration
So much of what we do requires working together. Instead of emailing numerous documents, not sure which one is the most up to date and who has the changes and who doesn't, we can now collaborate on documents. If you are doing research for a group project, you can share your information on a google doc so everyone has access to all of the research.
I heard it described as instead of attaching the document to an email, you attach emails to the document. Everyone invited to see and edit the document can see and make any changes!
Feedback Anytime, Anywhere
Tired of carrying home stacks of papers to look at? Ever have that one student who forgot to print theirs out for you?
With Google Apps, you can access student work and give them feedback on the actual document without printing the document. You can even give feedback while they are working on it!
Students, imagine getting more "real-time" feedback instead of waiting for the day the rough draft is due? Share the document with your teacher and they can help as much as you want along the way.

Customizable Settings
The settings can be set for many different uses. You can make documents public, or private. You can let some people edit or just look at the document. With all of the settings, you will have no trouble setting up your documents to fit your needs.
Clear History
So let's say you are working on a project for Biology class and your partner refused to do any work? You finished the lab report and are annoyed that you did all the work. Your teacher can look in the history to see who added what content to the work.
What if someone in your group accidentally erased everything? The history will also allow you to restore previous versions of the document so you don't have to start over and kill your group member.
